Pollachi Hamfest 2010 Concludes
HamFestIndia 2010 held at pollachi on 13th and 14th November was a grand success with great eyeball opportunity , number of HAM stalls selling all kinds of tech stuff and overall was a nice get-together/celebrations for all HAM radio lovers with family.
More than 510 HAM's from all over India as well as abroad participated in the wonderfully planned & organised event.
Presiding over the HAMFEST, Senior ham user of Pollachi E.S. Aruchamy gave a detailed account of the crucial role played by Pollachi Amateur Radio Club in disaster communication network. Since Pollachi is located between Nagapattinam and Thiruvananthapuram, ham radio has been used in passing over the daily weather reports.
He encouraged the engineering students to be part of ham radio clan as Morse code is not mandatory for engineering students/graduates.
P. Appukutty, Chairman of P.A. Group of Institutions, said that ham users are offering incredible service , especially during the times of man-made and natural disasters.
Hamfest 2010 offers an excellent opportunity for the students of Electronics and Communication Engineering to learn the nuances of telecommunication and its application in amateur radio. He also gave consent for starting a radio club.
S. Suri, Chairman of National Institute of Amateur Radio (NIAR), spoke on the role of Amateur Radio Clubs in the sustainable technical and economic growth of the nation. He also emphasised the proactive role played by the Government in promoting the activities of NIAR. He said that awareness should be created among the students to become a part of NIAR.
HAMFEST 2010, highlighted the crucial role played by amateur radio i.e., ham radio, urged students to get actively involved in Amateur Radio Club as reported by The Hindu.
The next Hamfest was decided to be held in Palghat (Kerala)
